This weekend wrapped up our senior season with the seemingly annual last game of the season trip to Hollingworth.
With the memo of an early start not reaching the High Lane camp, and the skipper having not yet arrived when the umpires insisted on tossing up, calling duties fell to self appointed vice captain for the day Tyler Eiselt... who promptly won and elected to bowl.
The Hollingworth opening pair set to work creating a solid base before Jeffs made the breakthrough with the hosts on 38.
Before long the hosts were 53/2 and then 71/3 and though the hosts struggled to build any large partnerships the scoreboard kept ticking over before eventually being bowled out for 170 with the spoils shared between the bowlers, the last 3 wickets shared between young guns R Warhurst and T Street who have made great strides in their first year of senior cricket this year.
In reply, Jeffs and Noel opened up for High Lane and got off to the worst start possible, with Jeffs suffering a rare failure at the top of the order, bowled before troubling the scorer in the opening over. Any worries though were short lived with Noel leading the assault against the hollingworth bowlers smashing 4 sixes and 6 fours before falling for 69 and bringing the 127 run 2nd wicket partnership to an end. Shortly after the second half century of the inning was brought up by M McCarthy, eventually caught for 61. This left the Eiselt brothers at the crease to steer High Lane home to for the loss of 4 wickets with 17 overs remaining.
A big thank you to all our sponsors and all who have supported us this year
